Flight of Fantasy (Every Day Poets, January 2012)

An etheree is a syllabic verse form consisting of ten lines, the number of syllables in each line increasing with the number of the line.  I thought this would be a very ‘mechanical’ way of creating verse, but in fact it’s quite challenging and very satisfying to attempt.

Chime
and chime
again, still
deeper into
darkness towards dawn.
Inspiration tumbles
through a mind that craves for rest,
tired fingers tapping mental keys,
weaving stories which seem wondrous yet
fragment like cobwebs in the morning light.

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

I'd love to hear your views; it reassures me I'm not talking to myself.
