Life-Changing (100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups, October 2012)

The prompt from 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups this week was the phrase

‘.. suddenly it was in my hand’.

I’d promised not to touch it again, but rage overcame me and suddenly it was in my hand.

I lunged, thrusting the steel tip towards his heart as the horror of understanding flickered across his handsome features.

This man would wish he’d not betrayed me now, I thought, as he crumpled to the floor in one fluid motion, ever diminishing.

It was done;  returning the wand to the shelf, I picked up the mewling black tom-cat now crouched before me.

“There Felix, that wasn’t so bad was it?  Just a minor veterinary procedure to deal with now, and then I think we’ll be very happy together.”

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

  2. Bad boyfriend! Bad!

I suppose it would be fair warning to introduce the next one to Felix, right?

  3. Oh my goodness! In true keeping with a psychopath, I love the way your character casually turns to his/her veterinary practice after he/she has done the deed …. ps thank you for the warm comment on my piece this week. :o).

Ouch! I am sitting here, my legs crossed in anticipation of Felix’s fate. I would just like to apologize publicly to every woman I’ve ever wronged. A very humorous and scary tale. Nice job!

Of course, after the visit to the vet, she can always change him back again.

I love your creative surprises. You totally fooled me with the steel tip, then surprised and delighted me with the magic! I love the “minor veterinary procedure” lol, it’s just the kind of extra jewel I love about your writing.
