The Golden Hour: Daily Prompt

The Golden Hour

The Golden Hour

Flight of Fantasy (Etheree)

 Chime

and chime

again, still

deeper into

darkness towards dawn.

Inspiration tumbles

through a mind that craves for rest,

tired fingers tap at mental keys,

weaving stories which seem wondrous yet

fragment like cobwebs in the morning light.

Daily Prompt:  The Golden Hour

I don’t write much poetry these days, but when I did, and when I was a little more experimental than I am now, I composed this Etheree (a 10 line poem in which the number of syllables in each line increases by one), which was published by Every Day Poets.  It sums up a phase which I think most writers experience at one time or another.   🙂

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

Your poem captures that frustrating moment when you wake, thinking you have the perfect story/idea, only to have it dissolve as soon as you open your eyes. Thanks for the pingback and visiting my blog. I envy your cruising in France; can’t imagine anything more blissful.

The poem is so beautiful, Sandra…it has that…lightness about it, so well balanced with the dark. And the photo is magical.
