Deterrent – Cee’s Oddball Photo Challenge #1

DSCF3632

You don’t know what this is?  To be honest, I have added a little colour to it.  🙂

DSCF3635Well, here’s where you’d find it.  (It’s not always heavily coated in a hoar frost, though.)  So what’s it for?

DSCF2847

It’s for making sure these don’t stray onto the railway line  (The clue is in the bit of grass sticking out of the mouth.)  I think it’s also supposed to keep dogs off the line, but the last time I passed I saw a Jack Russell terrier happily boinging his way over the peaks in pursuit of a rabbit.  🙂

Cee’s Oddball Photo Challenge is for those photos that don’t fall into any particular category.  Why not click on the link to find out what others have included for this week?

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

  1. That IS an odd one, Sandra. Methinks animals could just cross in another spot? But I like your bit of color.

I’m fascinated by this particular cattle grid. Whenever I walk to the woods along that way I have to bend down to feel the texture, it’s a bit like cinder-block.

  7. Great pictures Sandra. I would never have guessed the first one if you hadn’t shown the larger photo. Even then, I needed the explanation. Well done. 🙂 — Suzanne
