Good Dog! Weekly Photo Challenge – Reward

DSCN4865For Peggy, a cockapoo who sometimes comes round to our place for a spot of dog-sitting, reward comes in the shape of a shaggy blue tennis ball.

DSCF3708Glenn too likes a ball, but prefers his in yellow.  And mud-splattered.  We made his acquaintance this month when we met up with some old friends, John and Viv.  This is one lucky dog.

DSCN3079Beau, on the other hand, was a foster dog whose comfort blanket and favourite reward, during a difficult time in his life, was a slightly damp and smelly pooch.

The discerning dog, however, will settle for nothing less than a pristine penguin.  And there was no way this reward was going to be shared, by anyone.  What you’re seeing here is the sullen stare that heralds the beginning of an intimidating growl.

This week’s Photo Challenge was ‘Reward’.  For other interpretations, click on the link.

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

  1. Great interpretation of this week’s theme. Glenn, the border collie, seems keenly interested in something. And Penguin Pup definitely has that “don’t you even think about it” gaze to him. Max prefers a completely gutted dachshund. We get him a new one periodically and the first order of business is to remove the squeaker.

What a nice set of photos – dogs definitely have characters, and they are well shown here!

At the moment I am busy trying to organize 2 trips on the Burgundy canals and rivers. I am hoping to see you sometime. This year I will be on the Decize – Briare – Decize route at the end of June/beginning of July. Starting between the 3rd week of September and the end of October I should be on the Chalon-sur-Saone – Besancon – Chalon – Digoin -Decize – Chattillon-en Bazois – Decize route. Give me a shout if you see me!

Wow! That’s some schedule, Simon. There’s a possibility we might be around on the Saone during the later part of the year. I think we’re heading north for our major cruise this year but we’ve yet to decide. Have a great time on the Burgundy!

  8. Seems every dog has his own preference. I loved that penguin. 🙂

  9. Oh, Peggy looks a lot like my Reggie. 🙂 Though Reggie is not one to chase balls. He much prefers the stuffed penguin type of reward — especially if there is a squeaker inside.
    Great photos!

Good dog! 🙂 I almost did my dog too…she gets so many rewards…as do I, when we play. I linked to this because I have a lot of readers who are dog lovers too!
