I saw her do it the first time.
She screwed up her face, clenched her fists and bang…
That kid needs locking up, I thought, watching her at the funeral, that dreamy smile masking all that telekinetic energy.
The second time there wasn’t enough left to hold a funeral. I knew she was responsible, but no-one would have believed me.
She was amongst those offered counselling, but she opted out. No surprise there then.
This morning she’s been transferred to my class.
We’re running out of teachers.
Maybe I’ll take early retirement… sell up… move out west… I could even… oh shit…!

You can’t help but laugh at the literal “oh shit” moment at the end. Someone needs to blow up Little Miss Dynamite. I love a good black comedy and you do excel at them.

Thanks Rochelle; it’s a genre I’m comfortable with, and it’s weird how my more dramatic or serious work will suddenly turn itself into a black comedy. Sometimes I really have to hold back. 😉

Excellent flash, probably shouldn’t admit this but I could’ve used that talent a few times in school. But for as many teachers who scared the s…. out of me, there were those who truly inspired. So I guess it all works out.

Have been in classrooms (taught then teacher) for 50+ years – and never thought I’d be found out. After all, nobody would believe the kids about my classroom control techniques.

Good buildup and a great ending. Those of us who are teachers are getting extra value out of this story, I see. Thinking back, I can flesh out your little Miss Malevolence with the faces of a few students I can recall.
