I saw her do it the first time.
She screwed up her face, clenched her fists and bang…
That kid needs locking up, I thought, watching her at the funeral, that dreamy smile masking all that telekinetic energy.
The second time there wasn’t enough left to hold a funeral. I knew she was responsible, but no-one would have believed me.
She was amongst those offered counselling, but she opted out. No surprise there then.
This morning she’s been transferred to my class.
We’re running out of teachers.
Maybe I’ll take early retirement… sell up… move out west… I could even… oh shit…!
This week’s photo prompt is from Claire Fuller. Coincidentally I’ve just finished reading her excellent book ‘Our Endless Numbered Days’. I can wholeheartedly recommend it – a book that stays with you long after you’ve put it down. Well done Claire! Thanks to Rochelle for her continuing stewardship of Friday Fictioneers – and enjoy this memorable week, my friend. You’ve earned it.
Oh my…sorry..I laughed.
Couldn’t help it.
But I am sorry.
Poor dear 🙂

That’s fine Dawn. It was meant to be black comedy. I thought I’d ease myself gently back into my murderous phase… 😉

Dear Sandra,
You can’t help but laugh at the literal “oh shit” moment at the end. Someone needs to blow up Little Miss Dynamite. I love a good black comedy and you do excel at them.

Thanks Rochelle; it’s a genre I’m comfortable with, and it’s weird how my more dramatic or serious work will suddenly turn itself into a black comedy. Sometimes I really have to hold back. 😉

Oh happy day! What a great way to start my morning. Dark, creepy, but so funny at the end. I know I should think much deeper about the why, but I just find myself smiling. Great piece!

Not familiar with that, Bjorn. But I’d advise locking this one up for sure.

There’s a twilight zone episode…well, you’ve probably seen it. Since it’s always a little kid, maybe Grandpa should get a crack at the psychic powers, some time?

Not as scary, I think. There’s something about innocent malevolence, don’t you think?

Excellent flash, probably shouldn’t admit this but I could’ve used that talent a few times in school. But for as many teachers who scared the s…. out of me, there were those who truly inspired. So I guess it all works out.

Good buildup and a great ending. Those of us who are teachers are getting extra value out of this story, I see. Thinking back, I can flesh out your little Miss Malevolence with the faces of a few students I can recall.
