Because our boat’s permanent mooring is in Pont de Vaux, we have to navigate the River Saone quite frequently to go anywhere. Over the past few years, as we’ve passed through Chalon sur Saone, we’ve admired the waterside gardens which are freshly planted each year – to a different theme:
As someone who frequently has to sort out the garden because it’s been badly planted, with some flowers overshadowed by others or spreading unevenly, I can’t help but admire the precision planting and subsequent care that keeps this French riverside garden in immaculate condition.

Very carefully planted. I have no doubt that you and I could do the same thing ‘if’ we had an unlimited budget and a gardening team of ten or so. 🙂

Sandra, if you ever get to the States, you have to see the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. Each year it’s decorated with corn and other plants for a different theme. It’s truly amazing and although it’s not a garden like this one, your photos reminded me of it. Here are some images if anyone’s interested:

Wonderful. Unfortunately, even if we had navigable rivers I imagine the banks would remain with ever-increasing stocks of weeds.

Very cool garden. It would be interesting to know how they plan and maintain it.
