Alphabet: Weekly Photo Challenge

DSCF4302These were even before my time!  Our first telephone was a fetching two-tone green affair.  How over-awed we were!

DSCF4303Sadly, this was not before my time.  I learned to type on one of these, and I have the arthritic wrists/fingers to prove it!

The Weekly Photo Challenge this week was ‘alphabet’.  To see other responses, click on the link.

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

  5. I remember both of these, Sandra. However hard typing on a typewriter was, the skills served me well when I transitioned years later to a keyboard. 🙂 I read once that when secretaries switched from manual to electric typewriters, they gained weight. I can understand that the calories burned were a lot less!

  6. I remember that typewriter we had one or two in our class and those who arrived late had to use those instead of the newer ones that were just as monstrous.

  8. I’m not showing my age, but I too have used a similar typewriter and needless to say, jumped into computers as soon as they came out!

I transitioned through something called a Screentyper which was just a word processing machine. Didn’t do much other than type and edit but it was heaven to me and my poor wrists. 🙂

  9. My grandparents had a phone similar to that one, and the typewriter was one of the first ones I started typing on. I gladly adapted to newer models as they came along because I can remember those keys crashing together. 🙂

  11. I seem to remember my parents had a phone like that one in the house where I was born. You used to get it from the Bell Telephone Company in the U.S. and Dad was not one for seeking modernization as long as something worked. I learned to type in high school and the machines were newer than that. I just always seemed to get one that skipped. 😀 — Suzanne
