Reeling under the shock of returning to the English winter, after spending two months in sunny Spain, a quick glimpse through the photos taken over Christmas reminds me of the state of mind I was in at various points:
Christmas Eve, warm breezes across the balcony, the gentle crashing of waves on the beach below – contentment.
Watching the sun disappear, in the absolute certainty that there’d be sunshine the following day too – relaxation.
Towards the end of a good meal with old friends, with the prospect of walking off the wine and wonderful food as we make our way down the hill towards our apartment – satisfaction.
Our evening stroll around the port as the great ball of the sun slips over Calpe. The assembled boats remind us that we’ll soon be back on ours again – anticipation.
Knowing that all good things come to an end and now it’s back to the daily grind – prickly!
