When we blow out the candles on a birthday cake, it’s customary to make a silent wish. It’s said that this practice derives from a belief in ancient Greece that smoke carried prayers to the heavens. Remember that, next time you blow out the candles. 🙂

About Sandra
I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.
I thought you might say, as Laura did in her comment on my post, “I wish the photo challenge were still on Friday.” 🙂 Lovely shots.

Thanks Janet. I don’t know what it is about Wednesday, but I just don’t seem to remember the same way I did on Fridays. Must be an age thing.

🙂 I started putting it on my notes of what to do each day so that I’d remember it was on Wednesday. But I still sometimes have trouble.
