Photo Favourites 2019 – 3rd Quarter

A very wet third quarter to the year produced the usual crop of ‘magic’ mushrooms

and few days turned out wetter than this one – taken just before the drenching

a sad sight on the beach

this possibly being the culprit

and Sophie, as ever, slept on in her favourite spot.

About Sandra

I used to cruise the French waterways with my husband four or five months a year, and wrote fiction and poetry. Now I live on the beautiful Dorset coast, enjoying the luxury of being able to have a cat, cultivating an extensive garden and getting involved in the community. I still write fiction, but only when the spirit moves me - which isn't as often as before. I love animals, F1 motor racing, French bread and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.

Lovely images. And that swoosh of water! What a catch!
Never a happy sight to see a beached water animal…

Thanks Dale. I was worried about the fish one, but it looked healthy enough. I decided a seagull had probably snatched and dropped, as I didn’t see any other dead ones. Always a worry though.

The picture makes the fish look huge! When you indicated it was probably the seagull’s fault, I re-looked at the fish… told myself I guess it’s not a shark 😉
But yes, you are probably right…

I’m glad for this comment. I also wondered how the bird could be the culprit for the beached whale/shark. Enjoyed the pictures. And text.

Thanks, Oneta. I’d guess it was about abut 12 to 14 inches, quite large for our coast. We were watching cormorants in the bay the other day, and they were emerging with fish about 4 to 6 inches, so I thought it was probably one of the bigger species. These days, with our seas as polluted as we hear they are, you can never be sure though. Thanks for visiting.

I'd love to hear your views; it reassures me I'm not talking to myself.
